The preparation for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 has started. Teams have released and retained their players and it’s a brainer that the next edition of the event will be a blockbuster like the previous editions.

For the next edition of the tournament, a mini-auction is expected to take place and it is likely that many superstars will put their name to go under the hammer. The auction is likely to take place on 23rd December 2022.

The likes of Ben Stokes, and Sam Curran, who missed the last edition, along with Cameron Green and many others are expected to put their name in the IPL auction. It is learned that star English player Joe Root has registered his name for the event.

As per the reports in ESPNCricinfo, it is learned that Root has no expectations on salary and he just wants to experience IPL that could help his game in the ODI World Cup through IPL. Notably, the World Cup is slated to take place in India in 2023.

Root, however, hasn’t played a single game in the IPL but his T20I stats are enthralling as in 32 games he has scored 893 runs at an average of 35.72 and a strike rate of 126.31. If he puts his name in the auction, it is likely that many teams who lack the anchor option will bid for him.
