“I have achieved a lot, if somebody is doing better…,” Shikhar Dhawan’s heartfelt statement after getting dropped from the Indian team

Shikhar Dhawan lost his place to Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill in the team.

Senior Indian batter Shikhar Dhawan has given a heartfelt statement after getting dropped from the Indian team. He said that he has achieved a lot and he is happy with that and if somebody is doing better than his best, he doesn’t get desperate about anything.

Shikhar Dhawan dropped from the Indian ODI side

It seems that we have seen the end of the Shikhar Dhawan in the ODIs. The southpaw was dropped from the Indian squad for the three-match series against Sri Lanka and then didn’t find a place in the series against New Zealand.

Dhawan was under the firing line for his consistent failures batting at the top of the order of late. Not only the runs dried up for him but also batted with a poor strike rate.

The series against Bangladesh was dreadful for him as failed in all three games and registered low strings of scores 7,8 and 3 in the three matches. He has been poor in the format this year as well as in 22 ODIs he has 688 runs at an avg of 34.4 and an SR of 74.21 with a dot ball percentage of 60. His average in powerplay overs 1-10 also has been underwhelming at 32.9 and his strike rate is just 66.9 this year.

Also with Shubman Gill shattering many records and performing extraordinarily and Ishan Kishan making his case strong with the fastest double century in ODIs, it’s fair to say that Dhawan might not get a place in the team.

Many expected governing body to give one final chance to Dhawan, considering the stalwart he has been for India particularly in ODIs for the last 9-10 years. But this wasn’t the case as he was omitted from the squad without even a word about him.

“I am happy with that, if somebody is doing better than my best, I don’t get desperate about anything,” Shikhar Dhawan after getting dropped from the Indian side

Following his omission from the side, Shikhar Dhawan has opened up about his getting dropped. He gave a heartfelt reply while speaking to PTI. He said: “I have achieved a lot, and I am happy with that, if somebody is doing better than my best, I don’t get desperate about anything”.

With Cricket World Cup 2023 still a few months away, it remains to be seen if India gives another chance to Shikhar Dhawan or not.
