Top five bowling performances by Australian bowlers in IPL

Australian bowlers have been the star acts of IPL time and time again

The Australian bowlers in IPL have always had an unique cricketing relationship with the Indians. Its no wonder that the IPL has found a lot of Australians plying their trade in the tournament.

Both the batters and the bowlers have enriched the IPL with their talent and expertise. Let us look at some of the standout bowling performances by the Aussies in the IPL.

#1 Adam Zampa (6/19) is one of the Australian bowlers in IPL to have taken the fray by storm

In a tremendous display of quality spin bowling, Australian spinner Adam Zampa ran through the Sunrisers Hyderabad batting line-up to claim 6 wickets for 19 runs restricting them to 137 runs in a low scoring game in IPL 2016. He represented the Rising Pune Supergiants who could only manage 133 in response, which ensured that Zampa’s heroic bowling effort went in vain.

Among his scalps were Kane Williamson,Yuvraj Singh, Moises Henriques, Deepak Hooda, Naman Ojha and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. These figures were the second best in the IPL then, which has now been replaced by Sohail Tanvir’s 6-14 against Chennai Super Kings for the Rajasthan Royals.

#2 James Faulkner (5/20) is another amongst the Australian bowlers in IPL to show his prowess

Sunrisers Hyderabad were again at the end of a fiery spell of bowling which saw them lose 5 wickets for 20 runs to Australian fast bowler James Faulkner in IPL 2013. On a pitch helping the seamers, Faulkner obliterated the top order of Sunrisers’ batting on the way to his five wicket haul. At one time Faulkner’s fire reduced the Sunrisers to 29-6 before they staged some sort of a comeback.

Shikhar Dhawan, Kumar Sangakkara, Darren Sammy were among the five whom Faulkner picked up. Sunrisers were ultimately able to post a total of 144 which the Royals’ overcame with 8 wickets and 2.1 overs remaining.

#3 Andrew Tye (5/17) is another shining Australian bowler in IPL

The right arm fast medium bowler pulled off a five wicket haul which included a hattrick on his debut in the IPL for the Gujarat Lions against Rising Pune Supergiants. Those are the best figures for an IPL debutant. The Rising Pune Supergiants appeared to be cruising to a big total before the introduction of Tye changed the story.

It brought the Gujarat Lions back from the brink. The Supergiants batters found Tye’s knuckle ball difficult to read which led to 4 of them succumbing to it. Tye’s exploits included Ben Stokes, Manoj Tiwari, Shardul Thakur.
