Andre Russell:
Andre Russell has been one of the most explosive all-rounders in the history of the IPL, known for his ability to change the course of a game single-handedly. However, in IPL 2022, his performances were below par compared to his previous seasons. Russell played 13 matches, scoring 220 runs at an average of 22 and a strike rate of 149.66. While he contributed with seven wickets, his bowling average of 22.85 and economy rate of 11.29 suggest a decline in effectiveness as a bowler.
Additionally, Russell’s inconsistent batting displays raised concerns about his ability to provide match-winning performances consistently. KKR should consider parting ways with Russell to explore fresh talent that can provide more consistency and stability in both the batting and bowling departments.
Tim Southee:
Tim Southee was a new addition to the KKR squad in IPL 2022, but his limited opportunities did not yield a significant impact. Southee played only two matches, taking two wickets. While it is difficult to assess a player based on such a small sample size, his bowling average of 39.50 and economy rate of 13.16 indicate struggles in maintaining control and making breakthroughs.
Given KKR’s need for effective overseas bowling options, it would be wise for the team management to explore other alternatives that can offer more consistency and impact in crucial moments.
