IPL 2020: Rahul Tewatia argues with umpires during Rajasthan-Mumbai game

While Rajasthan Royals are already placed quite low in terms of the fairplay points that they have earned this season, Rahul Tewatia didn’t do his team any favors in the last night’s game against Mumbai Indians where he got indulged in an unnecessary argument with the on-field umpires.

Tewatia was not happy about the fact that the square leg umpire didn’t remind the bowler about the one bouncer he had already bowled in that over, which then gave the bowler the license to bowl another bouncer. However, if a reminder had been delivered to the bowler, he thereafter would have tried fuller lengths which would have allowed Tewatia to line him up.

Rahul Tewatia was dismissed soon after the argument

Tewatia asked the umpire about the bounce of that particular delivery and the umpire told him it was not high enough to consider it one bouncer for the over, but Tewatia just kept arguing with the umpire and the argument went into the next over as well.

Tewatia himself got quite distracted by that argument as well and was knocked over within a few deliveries to return to the pavilion. However, the argument that he had with the umpires would lead to Rajasthan losing some fairplay points now.

Rajasthan is now in the bottom half of the table in terms of the match points as well, as they have lost three games in a row after winning their first two games of the season. They had beaten Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab in Sharjah to start their tournament with a bang, but as they moved out of Sharjah and played at other venues with bigger ground dimensions, their performance has dipped down.

Even last night, Rajasthan got bundled out for just 136 chasing the target of 194 set by Mumbai Indians and the margin of the defeat affected their Net Run Rate (NRR) by a fair margin as well.
