“Bring on next season” – Jaydev Unadkat reacts after being overlooked for WTC Final

Former Indian Test player Dodda Ganesh was surprised to see Jaydev Unadkat not receiving a place in the squad for ICC WTC Final. Jaydev has been one of the most excellent performers in the domestic cricket. He has led Saurashtra from the front in first-class matches.

However, he did not receive a spot even in the standby players’ list for the England tour. The BCCI selection committee preferred to give opportunities to right-arm fast bowlers in the main squad. Even in the standby players, there were two players who could bowl right-arm pace: Avesh Khan and Prasidh Krishna.

Interestingly, there is only one left-arm fast bowler in the entire Indian squad. He is Gujarat’s uncapped player Arzan Nagwaswalla. After looking at the names in the squad and the standby players’ list, Dodda Ganesh tweeted:

“What else does Jaydev Unadkat need to do to get into the Indian test squad. It’s perplexing to see him being ignored again and again despite great performances year after year at the FC level #ENGvIND.”

Fans started to troll Jaydev Unakdat and Dodda Ganesh

Soon, a few fans began trolling Dodda Ganesh and Jaydev Unadkat because the southpaw has not been up to the mark in the previous IPL seasons. Ganesh replied to those trollers, stating that they should look at Unadkat’s first-class stats. He highlighted how IPL was not the only tournament considered for selection.

Jaydev Unadkat was happy to see Ganesh concerned about his exclusion. Here’s how the Saurashtra pace bowler replied to Dodda:

“Your concern motivates me even more! Bring on the next season.”

Dodda Ganesh wished Jaydev Unadkat all the best. He further added that he did not get chances despite his good performances for his team in the domestic level. Hence, Ganesh wanted to ensure no other player goes through that ordeal in cricket.
