It was a miraculous knock from the hard-hitting Shardul Thakur that saved the day for the Kolkata Knight Riders as they turned things around from an almost ineluctable situation to where there was no saving for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. The Indian all-rounder almost single-handedly turned things around for the Knights from a position that had no escape whatsoever.

Shardul Thakur had a near escape when Karn Sharma almost ran away with an impeccable hat-trick. However, post that he started bringing the big guns out and ever since then it was simply all guns blazing for the Lord and also the Knights as the Royal Challengers Bangalore was completely off their mark.

Partnering alongside the likes of Rinku Singh, Shardul Thakur started smashing on all cylinders. There was no reprieve for the bowlers. Recurring the fact that RCB got banged in the second half of the game with the ball in both contests, Shardul Thakur kept a keen eye on how things would have proceeded.

Instead of getting himself back in a shell, he decided to take the fight right to the Challengers and the hosts were again breezing like none other. After a stuttering start, Kolkata was steaming in and thanks to another breezy partnership of Shardul Thakur and Rinku Singh, the game went a million miles away from the Royal challengers Bangalore.

Albeit their batting is to come, the entire crowd was dancing on their feet as KKR was brought to life through the hands of a hard-hitting Indian all-rounder and this was also his best score in the history of the shortest format of the game. Shardul Thakur who came in from Delhi Capitals in the last season, completely took over the reins and helped KKR come back strongly.
