“Some Mumbai ex-players can never be appreciative of the south,” Murali Vijay lashes out a Sanjay Manjrekar for his on-air comments on the batter

Manjrekar made statement while commentating during the ongoing India vs Australia 1st Test.

Former Indian cricket Murali Vijay has lashed out at commentator Sanjay Manjrekar for his on-air comments on the batter. He said that some Mumbai ex-players can never be appreciative of the south.

“I am surprised to see Murali at the top, Sanjay Manjrekar on Vijay having the best conversion rate (the 50s to 100s) for India at home in Tests 

India and Australia are currently locking horns in the first Test of the four-match series in Nagpur. While the on-field battle has been staggering, some controversy has erupted off-field.

During the Day 2 of the game, the broadcaster showed the table of the best conversion rates for India at home Tests. It showed that Murali Vijay has the highest conversion rate of 60% and is ahead of the likes of Mohammad Azharuddin, Polly Umrigar, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the list.

Sanjay Manjrekar, who was commenting during that time, was left surprised by the stats and said on air: “I am surprised to see Murali at the top.”

Sanjay Manjrekar’s on-air comments didn’t go well with Murali Vijay, who wasted no time and lashed out at the commentator for his statement. He took to his Twitter account and sarcastically wrote “@sanjaymanjrekar Surprised wow”.

However, he didn’t stop there as posted another Tweet and fired back shots saying “Some Mumbai ex-players can never be appreciative of the south ! #showsomelove #equality #fairplayforall @sanjaymanjrekar @BCCI”.

Murali Vijay notably, was one of the finest Test openers to have played for India. He played many staggering knocks at the top for the side both at home as well as overseas. He represented India in 61 Tests, amassing 3982 runs at an average of 38.28 with 12 hundreds and 15 half-centuries. Also, he played in 17 ODIs and 9 T20Is, scoring 339 and 169 runs respectively.
