Coaching is a part in the world cricket which actually has at most importance in the on field business of the game. It is the duty of a head coach in cricket to direct the captain and the whole team in a proper direction which could ultimately produce enormous results for the side in future. While talking in the context of Indian cricket Greg Chappell is considered as the most controversial head coach of the team as he initially took the team to newer hides but later he was the lone reason behind the crack in the side.

Sourav Ganguly actually built up the foundation of Indian cricket which lazer cashed in by the great of the modern era MS Dhoni. Chappell also had a big contribution in progressing the team but his intent got shifted in later parts of his career. From the year 2015 to 2021 except the span of Anil Kumble, Ravi Shastri is the man who has built the upgraded Indian side along with the leadership of Virat Kohli. Below are the three finest coaches which Indian cricket has got so far in the aspect of achievements in the international arena.

#1. Gary Kirsten (2008-11).

The era of Gary Kirsten along with the leadership of MS Dhoni was considered as the golden period of Indian cricket where Indian team has become the number one test side of the world in 2009 and won the historic 2011 world cup where the journey of victory was stitched by the hands of this former South African Batter.

Under the coaching of Gary Kirsten team India has set world record of consecutively winning 17 one day international games along with the draw test match series in South Africa was the biggest achievement in the Kirsten-Dhoni era. And the draw test match in New Zealand where Gautama Gambhir has batted whole day was also a reflection of his never give up attitude.

#2. Ravi Shastri (2017-21).

In the tenure of Ravi shastri’s coaching Indian team got the historic test series win in Australia along with the appearance of Indian team in the finals of world test championship of 2021. In the year 2018 it was the magical moment when Ravi Shastri stamped his name as the Indian head coach during, Virat Kohli leading team India has snatched victory in 4 match test series against Australia on their soil. But many cricket exports have a keen interest in the absence of David Warner and Steve Smith in that border Gavaskar trophy 2018.

But he again did the majestic thing in the year 2021 where the whole Australian team was playing with their full strength and Indian team was standing on a mediocre side but still they stay successful in vectorizing the series by 2-1. Also in the 2019 World Cup India has reached to the stage of semi finals under his head coaching but miserably fell to the side of New Zealand.

#3. Duncan Fletcher (2011-15).

The former cricketer of Zimbabwe Duncan Fletcher has served the Indian team from the year 2011 to 2015 forming another pair with MS Dhoni that is the ‘Fletcher-Dhoni’ duo. The biggest achievement in the era of Fletcher was the victory of the Indian team in the ICC Champions trophy of 2013.

Along with this the critical beating of team Australia in the home test series in the year 2012 was also a big part of his achievements as a head coach of the side. Before the world cup of 2015 due to some inner conflict between the players and the management, BCCI had to restrict the contract of Fletcher till the start of 2015 and bring in a new face.
