IPL franchises are well aware of the sheer quality that New Zealand players bring to the table. As a result, they didn’t hesitate to splash the cash to sign the top players. Now, in this article, we will take a look at the three most expensive New Zealand players in the history of the IPL auction.

1. Kyle Jamieson

There was plenty of hype surrounding New Zealand international Kyle Jamieson when the latter was purchased by Royal Challengers Bangalore for a whopping price tag of INR 15 crore at the IPL 2021 auction.

Needless to say, the New Zealand paceman failed to live up to his price tag as he took nine wickets in nine appearances. He decided not to participate in the subsequent season. Jamieson was purchased by Chennai Super Kings for INR 1 crore at the IPL 2023 mini-auction.

2. Kane Williamson

Kane Williamson has been one of the significant players in the Indian Premier League. Having played 76 games in the lucrative tournament, he scored 2101 runs at an average of 36.2.

Notably, he slammed as many as 18 fifties to his name. Sunrisers Hyderabad retained Kane Williamson for INR 14 crore in the IPL 2022 auction. Williamson was released by the SRH ahead of the IPL 2023 auction. The New Zealand skipper was purchased by Gujarat Titans for INR 2 crore.

3. Trent Boult

Trent Boult is one of the premier fast bowlers in the world. The experienced left-arm pacer was the third-most expensive New Zealand player in the history of the IPL auction.

The southpaw was sold to Rajasthan Royals for a price tag of INR 8 crore at the IPL 2022 mega auction in Bengaluru. The inaugural IPL champions retained him for the same price ahead of the IPL 2023 auction.
