“Yes that was 100% fake fielding,” Aakash Chopra says had umpire seen Virat Kohli do that, we would’ve been slapped with a five-run penalty

Nurul Hasan accused Virat Kohli of fake fielding.

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra gave his verdict on the fake fielding incident during the game between India and Bangladesh in the T20 World Cup 2022. He admitted that Virat Kohli committed the fake fielding and had umpires seen that India would’ve been penalized five runs.

“Yes that was 100% fake fielding because of the way Kohli attempted to throw the ball,” Aakash Chopra on the saga

The game between India and Bangladesh was marred by a fake fielding incident that hogged the headlines. It was during Bangladesh’s innings when Indian batter Virat Kohli committed fake fielding but that wasn’t noticed by either of the umpires. Although India won the game since then many things have happened.

After the match, Nurul Hasan accused Virat Kohli of fake fielding as he was spotted distracting Shanto. This lit a huge debate among various fans and pundits with them giving their opinions.

It was also learned as per the reports in PTI Shanto might be sanctioned for criticizing the match officials as none of Shanton or Liton were distracted or deceived.

Aakash Chopra also joined the bandwagon and shared his verdict on the same. He admitted that Kohli was at the fault and India could’ve been penalized. Speaking at the video posted on his YouTube channel, he said:

Woh fake fielding tha, 100% tha, wo jo throw marne ka prayas kia wo agar umpire dekhte toh 5 run ki pentaly padti humko aur 5 run se hum match bhi jeete. (Yes that was 100% fake fielding because of the way Kohli attempted to throw the ball.

If the umpires had seen him do that, we would’ve been slapped with a five-run penalty and we’ve won by five runs only.) So we escaped here but next time if someone does this then the umpires will have to be more careful. So are Bangladesh right? Yes, they are but nobody noticed it then so can’t do anything now,”

“If that five penalty runs were given,” Aakash Chopra feels that India could’ve lost the game as well

Aakash Chopra feels that had that five runs been given, India could’ve lost the match, he said:

“If that five penalty runs were given, the two that the Bangladesh pair ran, would have still have been counted, the ball would have been dead and Bangladesh would have gotten to choose who takes strike in the next ball,”
