Rajasthan Royals locked horns with Kolkata Knight Riders in the 56th match of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League. The game took place at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. It was a must-win game for both teams.
Judging by the performances, Rajasthan Royals approached the game much better than Kolkata Knight Riders across all aspects of the game. Batting first, KKR posted 149 for the loss of eight wickets in their designated quota of 20 overs.
Venkatesh Iyer who batted at a slow pace eventually tried to switch gears and scored 57 off 42 balls. He composed his innings with the help of two fours and four hits over the fence.
In the end, KKR posted a modest total on the board. Yuzvendra Chahal was the pick of the bowlers as he registered 4/25 in his quota of four overs. On the other hand, Trent Boult picked up 2/15 in 3 overs.

In response, Rajasthan Royals got off to a scintillating start to the game, courtesy of Yashasvi Jaiswal’s stunning batting display. He unleashed his true colours by smashing the fastest fifty in the history of the IPL.
As it turned out, he also became the first player from India to score more than 500 runs in IPL 2023. On top of that, he is just one run behind Faf du Plessis’ tally of 576 runs in IPL 2023.
Yashasvi Jaiswal scored an unbeaten 98 off 47 balls with the help of 13 boundaries and 5 hits over the fence whereas Sanju Samson scored 48 off 29 balls including 2 fours and 5 sixes as KKR won the game by 9 wickets as they aced the run-chase in just 13.1 overs.
