The fast bowler that Virender Sehwag picked was none other, Punjab Kings left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh. The youngster has been in terrific touch in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League, scalping 16 wickets in 11 matches. The left-arm pacer is currently fourth on the IPL 2021 Purple Cap leaderboard. Talking about his performances on Cricbuzz’s chat show, Virender Sehwag said:

“He [Arshdeep] said he worked with Zaheer Khan for three days. If he can swing the ball in within three days, imagine the benefits he can provide to the Indian team if he spends some time with them. Arshdeep is a very fine bowler and if he continues to work hard and perform like this, he would surely make it to Team India someday.”

Punjab Kings have the likes of Mohammed Shami, Nathan Ellis, Chris Jordan and Ravi Bishnoi in their squad, but the bowler who has picked up the most wickets for them is Arshdeep Singh. As mentioned ahead, he has taken 16 wickets.

Singh has taken a five-wicket haul in this IPL. His best figures are 5/32. Also, his economy rate is below eight runs per over, which is fantastic, considering that he is an uncapped player. It will be interesting to see when he makes his India debut.
