Even after her team, the Punjab Kings (PBKS), lost a tight game against the Gujarat Titans (GT) on their home pitch in Mohali, franchise co-owner and star Preity Zinta remained upbeat and congratulated the visiting squad. When Preity is in the stands, she typically can’t contain her feelings. The actress shows equal amounts of jubilation and disappointment depending on whether her side wins or loses. She probably had a hard time accepting the loss on Thursday night. Preity, however, maintained her cool and introduced herself to the team members.
After the game, Preity also spoke with Shami, a former player for the Punjab Kings. From 2019 through 2021, Shami was the cornerstone of the franchise’s bowling attack. The photographer made sure the cute moment between Shami and Preity was caught on the camera, and the resulting photo quickly became an online sensation.

In their second home game, Punjab Kings lost the toss and GT instructed them to bat first. By limiting Punjab to 153 runs in 20 overs, the bowlers proved Hardik Pandya’s choice to bowl first was correct. Their top batter, Matthew Short, batted in 24 balls and scored 36 runs. Shahrukh Khan’s 22 runs off 9 balls pushed his team over the 150-run barrier on a day when the batting lineup struggled to build on the early momentum.
Mohit Sharma, who had not played in the IPL for three years, returned with a bang, becoming the match’s Man of the Match after taking two wickets in four overs and allowing just 18 runs.
Up until the 18th over, the Titans’ pursuit seemed to be going well. After a brilliant 67 from Shubman Gill off 49 balls, the equation came down to 4 required off 2 balls in the last over. Rahul Tewatia’s calm head was crucial as he hit a superb scoop off Sam Curran with the second-to-last ball of the game to lead his side to victory. With this victory, GT moved up to third place in the rankings, while PBKS dropped to sixth.
