Tim Paine responds as Indian fans have a go at him 6 months after the Gabba Test

Fans of Indian cricket are known to be passionate and never leave an opportunity to have a go at an opponent who decided to have a go at the team when they were playing against India.

And one such case is that of the fans of the Indian team calling out Tim Paine on Twitter six months after his team was defeated by India at the historic venue of Gabba.

Going into the final match of the 4-match series earlier this year, India were leveled with Australia on the scoreline with one win each to their names and a drawn Test at Sydney. And everyone went into the Gabba Test waited in anticipation. But the Indian cricket team’s valiant effort at the Gabba led them to a historic win at a venue where they hadn’t lost a Test in a long time.

Tim Paine lauded the passion of the Indian fans

Tim Paine at that time, going into the Test match had made some quirky statements, which to his horror are coming to bite him back six months later, as the Indian fans continue to take a dig at the Australian captain. All of this happened on Twitter when the fans of the Indian team put out Tweets mocking the statement made by Tim Paine, tagging sports journalist, Brent Costelloe, who in turn posted them on his timeline and Paine responded.

Brent on his Twitter handle wrote,’ Almost 6 months on, poor old @tdpaine36 is still copping heat from Indian fans… and these are just the ones I’m tagged in!’ He also attached a screenshot of the aforementioned Tweets. The Aussie captain was quick to respond and took these Tweets with a laugh. Tim Paine replied to the screenshot of Tweet said,’ Love their passion Brent. Most of it I deserve 😂.’

It was good to see that Tim Paine took all of the banter from the side of the Indian fans with nothing but laughter. And that should be the case as these incidents help the spirit of the game be upheld and show the players take no hard feelings off the field and when out of the national team’s jersey.
