“Relentlessly consistent performer in County Championship in 12 months” – Twitter reacts as Marcus Harris has been Australia’s most consistent batter against the Dukes ball

The cricket fraternity is eagerly witnessing the ongoing edition of the IPL. Post the IPL, there are more critical international schedules lined up ahead. The Ashes, Asia Cup 2023 and ODI World Cup 2023 are slated to be held this year.

The fans are curiously waiting to experience the iconic Ashes series between England and Australia this summer. It will be quite interesting to see which team will win the Ashes this time.

Case in point, Marcus Harris has been ever so spectacular and has been Australia’s most consistent batter against the Dukes’ ball recently. He is an Australian cricketer who operates as a top-order left-handed batsman.

The 30-year-old has now emerged as a leading candidate to open the batting for the Australian cricket team in the upcoming Ashes series in the wake of a prolific 12 months in red-ball cricket.

For the record, the southpaw, who made his most recent Test match appearance in January last year was struggling to provide a spark in the batting department.

He played alongside David Warner at the top of the order for 3 matches during the 2019 Ashes but failed to bring the best out of himself as he averaged 9.66 with the bat.

However, since then, he has been consistent as far as the County Championship is concerned. He aggregated 1588 runs at a splendid batting average of 51.22 for Leicestershire and Gloucestershire.

Recently, he made the headlines after he scored 59 and 148 for Gloucestershire against Glamorgan, which ended in a draw. His promising signs tell us that he is indeed looking forward to making a return to the Test setup.

He might have missed the team selection for the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy series that took place in India recently. However, he was added to Cricket Australia’s contract list for 2023/24, which clearly gives us a hint that he might as well be in the scheme of things for Test recall for the Ashes.
