Pakistan captain Babar Azam has been in surreal form in One-Day Internationals for a long time now. The right-handed batsman who is best known for his sheer consistency has time and again delivered the work rate for the team.
Having represented the Pakistan cricket team in 47 Tests, 95 ODIs and 99 T20Is, Pakistan’s run-scoring machine scored 3696 runs in Tests, 4813 runs in ODIs and 3355 runs in T20Is.
He has maintained a batting average of 48.6 in Tests, 59.4 in ODIs and 41.4 in T20Is. Notably, he has slammed nine centuries and 26 fifties in Tests, 17 centuries and 24 fifties in ODIs and 2 centuries and 30 fifties in T20Is.
Babar Azam wins ICC men’s ODI player of the year award
Meanwhile, in the latest development, Babar Azam made the headlines after he claimed the ICC Men’s ODI Cricketer of the Year Award for the second consecutive year.
The Pakistan captain drew plaudits for producing several match-winning knocks for the national cricket team. Babar Azam accumulated 679 runs from 9 games at an average of 84.87 including 3 centuries in the previous calendar year.
Some fans were of the opinion that Adam Zampa should have won the ICC Men’s ODI player of the year award because of his performances in the One-Day Internationals in the last 12 games.
Adam Zampa took 30 wickets in the last 12 games. The Australian international has played 76 ODIs and 72 T20Is for the national cricket team. He accounted for 127 dismissals in red-ball cricket and 82 dismissals in T20Is.
Babar Azam has played only nine ODIs in the last calendar year but he did make his presence count by hitting three centuries to his name. Besides that, he also smacked as many as five fifties.
Babar Azam only failed to deliver with the bat only once. Pakistan have performed incredibly well in ODIs in 2022. The team’s only defeat in ODIs last year came against Australia in Lahore.
Ohh great. Full credit to Babar, but Zampa can feel a tad disappointed imo, 30 wickets in 12 games, He was ridiculously good. https://t.co/IFUQxbVgpg
