Three players who can replace Jasprit Bumrah in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup

Ahead of the World Cup, India has suffered a major blow as pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has reportedly been ruled out of T20 World Cup 2022 with a back injury. Notably, he is officially out of the ongoing series against South Africa.

With him also expected to be out of the T20 World Cup 2022, many speculations will be named as his replacement in the event. While Mohammed Siraj has replaced him in the South Africa series, it remains uncertain who will come in his place for the marquee tournament. Today we take a look at three players who can replace Jasprit Bumrah in the T20 World Cup.

Mohammad Shami

Mohammad Shami is the first name that can replace Jasprit Bumrah in the Indian squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022. The pacer is already in reserves and can be a perfect replacement for him considering his pace and prowess with the new ball. Notably, Shami was originally slated to play in the series against Australia and South Africa but Covid-19 ruled him out of both series. With him being an experienced and quality bowler, he can be the first choice to replace Bumrah in the side.

Mohammed Siraj

Ahead of the World Cup nobody would’ve thought about Mohammed Siraj being in contention for the T20 World Cup 2022. But as it turned out, he can be the replacement for Jasprit Bumrah in the team for the event. The pacer already replaced him in the ongoing South Africa series and with this BCCI might have given the hint about who can be the ideal replacement. With conditions favouring bounce and pace in Australia, Siraj can be handy both with the new ball and at the death. His cross-seam deliveries could well prove out to be vital for India.

Umesh Yadav

Umesh Yadav can be another candidate to replace Bumrah in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup 2022. The Nagpur pacer has the pace and can be a potential threat for any opposition with his new ball bowling ability. He came into the India side after a while as a replacement for Mohammad Shami in the Australia series and then remained with the team in the ongoing South Africa series. Him being with the team could well be a hint that he can be the consideration for the event.
