“That’s a lot more then I expected”, Twitter reacts as BCCI expects Women’s IPL franchises to be sold between 1000 crore to 1500 crore

The Indian Premier League has turned out to be a blockbuster event ever since its inception in 2008. Played in a dedicated two-month window, the cash-rich IPL has kept the fans at the edge of their seats.

The fraternity ran through fifteen seasons of the roller-coaster ride of the entertaining package, which also saw the entry of two new teams – Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants respectively. 

The last edition of the IPL saw as many as 10 teams in the competition. The upcoming editions of the IPL is also expected to have a few more teams and the window is also going to be increased without any doubts.

Considering the fact that there is a massive craze for the IPL in India, the BCCI is planning something extraordinary to provide wider coverage to every nook and corner of the cricket fraternity.

BCCI expects Women’s IPL franchises to be sold between 1000 crore to 1500 crore

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is planning to introduce the Women’s IPL starting March 2023. In the latest development, the richest cricket body is looking to auction as many as five franchises for the forthcoming women’s T20 league beginning in March 2023 by means of a closed tender.

Sources say that the richest cricket body is collecting some market intelligence regarding this, taking the demand and market interest into effect, according to News18.

Meanwhile, the BCCI expects the franchises to be sold somewhere between Rs 1000 and Rs 1500 crore or even beyond that limit, given the interest the auction produces once the tender document is out. 

The BCCI will be getting richer to a massive extent in the near future, generating revenues through Men’s and Women’s IPL. It has been learnt that the richest cricket body could be looking to increase anywhere between Rs 6,000 and Rs 8000 crore from the sale of the 5 teams.
