Former Australian star Ricky Ponting has gone one step ahead and has been named the finalist for the tournament. He said although South Africa is a dangerous team and has a good chance it’ll be India and Australia who will play the final in Melbourne. In his column for ICC, he said:
“Honestly, who knows who is going to be playing in Melbourne? I hope Australia finds a way to get through the group. South Africa are the only unbeaten team left so they will be dangerous but I will say what I did at the start and that is an Australia versus India final,”
Notably, India needs to win their last game against Zimbabwe to find themselves in the semi-final whereas Australia needs to bag their last league match against Afghanistan by a big margin.
“Don’t let it run away from you,” Ricky Ponting’s message to Australia ahead of their clash against Afghanistan
Australia will take on Afghanistan in its last league game on Friday (4th November). They need to give their everything if they have to fancy their chances of qualifying for the semi-finals. Ahead of the game, Ricky Ponting has given them a message. He said:
“Every big game I went into, especially when I was captain of Australia, I told the boys to embrace the moment for what it is. Don’t let it run away from you, and don’t treat it like any other game, because it is not. The more you can express to yourself and to others that this is a bigger game, then you are not trying to hide anything and the better you will play.”
Ricky Ponting (to @Vimalwa) said "I am really surprised that Rishabh Pant is not playing, he is a match winner, we have seen what he has done in Australia".
