“Oh man! What a turn around”, Twitter reacts as Gautam Gambhir calls Virat Kohli as the backbone of Indian cricket

Indian batting stalwart, Virat Kohli, has come good for India since his return to cricket after a break, right from the Asia Cup. He scored runs for fun and also scored his first T20I hundred in the game against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup. This was his first hundred in three years after hitting a rough patch. He did not stop there. He carried his form to the bilateral series against Australia and South Africa.

Now, the former Indian captain has taken the T20 World Cup 2022 by storm. Kohli played one of the best knocks in the T20I history, if not the best, in India’s opening game against Pakistan. He took India home from practically an improbable position to win.

He also scored a quick-fire half-century against the Netherlands in the second game and helped India win that game. He did not make use of the start he got against South Africa. However, King Kohli came back strongly against Bangladesh at the Adelaide Oval.

Virat Kohli scored 64 runs off 44 balls against Bangladesh which consisted of eight fours and six. This guided India to a win against Bangladesh by 5 runs in a rain-curtailed game.

Kohli has a history of dominating with the bat in Australia, and he continued that trend in the 2022 T20 World Cup by hitting 82 runs without being dismissed to lead India to a decisive 4-wicket victory against Pakistan. India’s campaign in the T20 World Cup got off to a rousing start thanks to his knock.

Former India opener Gautam Gambhir has now heaped praise on Virat Kohli and has called him the backbone of Indian cricket. The man is surely the backbone of Indian cricket as he has carried the team on his back in the last 10-12 overs, especially in the high profile and crunch games and situations. May this long continue!
