“No wonder KL is Captain” – Twitter reacts after Nicholas Pooran sold to Lucknow Super Giants for INR 16 crore

Lucknow Super Giants made good impressions in the last season of the Indian Premier League as they qualified for the playoffs by finishing third on the IPL 2022 points table.

Having played 14 games in the group stage, they have won nine games but lost the rest of the five games, collecting 18 points from the season. However, they failed to extend their dominance beyond the playoffs.

They surrendered at the hands of the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Eliminator and it was a disappointing campaign in their debut season. Lucknow Super Giants will be looking forward to executing their plans and performing well as a team in the next season.

Nicholas Pooran sold to Lucknow Super Giants for INR 16 crore

Lucknow Super Giants made the headlines today after they splashed the cash to recruit the services of Nicholas Pooran for a whopping price of INR 16 crore.

On the other hand, netizens on social media slammed LSG team management for buying Nicholas Pooran for such a massive price. Having played 47 games in the IPL, he has scored only 912 runs at an average of 26.1.

The wicketkeeper-batsman has smashed only four half-centuries and it was surprising to see someone like Rilee Rossouw who is a proven performer in T20 cricket going unsold at the auction.

On the other side of the coin, the likes of Romario Shepherd and Daniel Sams have joined the Lucknow Super Giants franchise for price tags of INR 50 lakhs and INR 70 lakhs, respectively.

Yash Thakur whose base price was INR 20 lakhs was sold to Lucknow Super Giants for a price of INR 45 lakhs. It will be quite interesting to see how LSG would use these resources effectively in the next season.

They have got KL Rahul who will be leading the team from the front and has certainly improved pretty well as a captain over the last few months. He is currently leading Team India in the Test series against Bangladesh in Rohit Sharma’s absence.
