“Nicholas Murali Pooran”, Ian Bishop reacts to Nicholas Pooran’s stunning bowling performance against Pakistan

Pakistan defeated West Indies by 53 runs to win the third ODI of the series. With this, the hosts have executed a whitewash against the visitors. While most things went wrong for West Indies on Sunday, the display by their captain Nicholas Pooran did bring a smile to the faces of the team’s fans. Pooran is known for his big-hitting ability but he surprised all by doing well with the ball. In this article, we take a look at how Ian Bishop reacted to Nicholas Pooran‘s stunning bowling performance against Pakistan.

Nicholas Pooran’s stunning bowling performance against Pakistan

Batting first, as usual, Pakistan got off to a good start. The opening partnership had extended to 85 and things were looking ominous for West Indies. That is when they had to try something different to get back into the game. Nicholas Pooran is a genuine wicket-keeper but since Shai Hope is there in the team, the southpaw was not behind the stumps. Hence, he brought himself on to bowl some right-arm off-spin.

Pooran had only bowled three balls in his ODI career before and hence, there were not many expectations. However, he was brilliant on the day and his lines and lengths were difficult to play. As a reward, Pooran got four wickets. These scalps were important ones comprising that of Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Rizwan, Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Haris. He was one of the main reasons why Pakistan was restricted to 269 runs in the first innings. Looking at his performance, here is how Ian Bishop reacted to it:

West Indies needs to find a way to get back to form

West Indies have been in terrible form in recent months. They need to get their performances consistent in order to do well. Their next focus will be the 2022 T20 World Cup that will be held in Australia later this year. They could not leave an impression in the last edition and hence, they will be looking to make amends.
