Nasser Hussain Explains Why India Not ‘Clear Favorites’ To Win T20 WC

Former England cricket team captain Nasser Hussain has opined that the Indian team is one of the favorites to win the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. However, Hussain refused to give the tag of ‘clear favorites’ to India because of some reasons.

The BCCI have named a very strong Indian squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. The likes of Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja are present in the Indian T20 World Cup squad. All the Indian stars played in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League in the United Arab Emirates recently. Thus, they have a clear idea about the conditions of playing in the Middle East. Also, the pressure is very high in the IPL matches. So, the Indian players recently played in high-pressure situations as well.

Their record of late in the ICC tournaments is not good, says Nasser Hussain

Analyzing Team India’s ICC T20 World Cup chances, Nasser Hussain pointed out on Sky Cricket that the Indian cricket team has not had a great record in the ICC tournaments of late. Thus, they are not the clear favorites to win the title.

“They are favourites. I wouldn’t say clear favourites simply because of the format. The shorter the game, things can happen,” Hussain said on ‘Sky Cricket’.”…an individual brilliance of 70 or 80 or three deliveries suddenly changes the other away around. So anyone could upset India in any knockout game. Their record of late in the ICC tournaments is not good and that’s something they are going to have to deal with,” said Nasser Hussain.

India will start their T20 World Cup 2021 campaign tomorrow against Pakistan

The Indian cricket team will be in action tomorrow against the Pakistan cricket team in their first Super 12 match of ICC T20 World Cup 2021. The Men in Blue are the favorites to win the match because they have a stronger squad and the head-to-head record heavily favors them.

Also, India performed much better than Pakistan in the warm-up matches. It will be exciting to see which team comes out on top in the big match tomorrow.
