Rishabh Pant likely to warm the bench in the T20 World Cup 2022
Rishabh Pant has been on the sidelines ever since Dinesh Karthik returned to the team. Despite his heroics in Tests and ODIs, the southpaw has failed to find a place in the playing XI. It’s fair to say that he has got very less opportunities in the side.
But whenever he played he failed to set the stage on fire and give away his wickets. He warmed the bench in all three games of the series against Australia at home but played a game against South Africa, where he opened the innings and scored 27 runs.
Although he’s in India’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2022 but it’s likely that he’ll be the second-choice keeper in the side with Karthik being the first preference. He played in the two warmup games against Western Australia but failed in both games.
After that Pant didn’t play in the warmup game against Australia and was expected to be on the sidelines for the second game against New Zealand as well. But in the last few innings, he has been decent. Although he failed to convert his starts but he played short and impactful cameos for his team.
