Indian Team squad for T20 World Cup 2022: 3 players that can miss the tournament
As the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup 2022 is likely to be announced in a few days, let’s take a look at 3 players who can miss the tournament.
Shreyas Iyer
Although Shreyas Iyer has been one of the leading batsmen for India in the T20Is this year, he is likely to be dropped from the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup 2022. The right-hander has the second most runs to his name in the T20Is in 2022 with 449 runs to his name. But considering his struggle against short balls and bounce on the wickets of Australia, he is expected to miss out on the team. Iyer, however, can be named in the traveling reserves.
Shreyas Iyer is India's second highest run scorer in T20Is this year.

Deepak Hooda
Deepak Hooda has done exceptionally well in his short T20I career so far. In 12 games so far he has scored 293 runs at a staggering strike rate of 155.85. He also scored a century against Ireland but he then had to make a place for seniors in the side. With the top order being boosted by Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav, it is likely that he won’t find a place in the team. He also won’t be able to grab a spot in the lower order with the kind of firepower India has.
Avesh Khan
Avesh Khan made his debut for India in T20Is in February this year on the back of his performances in IPL. Since then he has been backed by the Indian team management but hasn’t quite made a mark at the international stage. He could’ve well been under the radar of the selectors considering the lengths he bowls but of late his performances have been concerning. He also was expensive for his side in the Asia Cup 2022. Avesh has so featured in 15 T20Is, claiming 13 wickets at an average of 32.46 and an economy rate of 9.10. Considering his record along with the bench strength it is unlikely that he will make the cut into the Indian Team squad for T20 World 2022.
Death over economy rates of Indian bowlers in 2022 (T20Is – min 4 overs in death)
Avesh Khan – 18.0
Harshal Patel – 11.1
Hardik Pandya – 10.25
Bhuvneshwar Kumar – 10.07
Ravi Bishnoi – 8.0
Arshdeep Singh – 6.7#AsiaCup2022 #INDvSL— Rohit Sankar (@imRohit_SN) September 6, 2022
