“If MS Dhoni retires from IPL, even I will quit”- Suresh Raina

In a massive statement by Suresh Raina, the Chennai Super Kings all-rounder has stated that he would call it a day on his IPL career when MS Dhoni retires. The Uttar Pradesh-based all-rounder took part in an interview with News24 Sports, where he was asked which team he would like to play for if CSK released him before IPL 2022 Mega Auction.

Although Suresh Raina has played against MS Dhoni in two seasons of the IPL, he replied that he would hang up his boots if Dhoni did not play. Interestingly, Raina added that he would convince MS Dhoni to play another season of IPL if the Chennai Super Kings win the 2021 season.

“If MS Dhoni decides to retire, even I will quit. We have been playing together for the Chennai Super Kings since 2008. If Chennai Super Kings wins the championship in 2021, I will convince him to play another season because there will be a gap of only a few months for the next season,” Suresh Raina said.

Suresh Raina aims to groom the young cricketers in Uttar Pradesh after retirement

Suresh Raina is popularly called Mr. IPL because of his magnificent performances in the Indian Premier League. He held the record for being the highest run-getter in the IPL for a long time before Virat Kohli overtook him. Nevertheless, Raina will go down as one of the best cricketers in IPL history.

Many fans feel that Raina still has 3-4 years of cricket left in him. However, when the interviewer asked him the same question, Raina stated that he wished to groom the young cricketers in his state. Also, he wished to focus on the academy in Jammu and Kashmir. The 2011 Cricket World Cup winner wanted more Suresh Rainas and Mohammad Kaifs to emerge from his state. Hence, he wished to retire along with MS Dhoni.
