The star players of the Indian cricket team are currently playing in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League. Soon after the completion of the IPL season, the Indian stars will don the blue jersey and play for the country in the shortest format of the game against South Africa. It is a very important T20 year for India because the ICC T20 World Cup and Asia Cup are scheduled to happen this year.
Every cricket fan would know that the Top 3 batters of the lineup have utmost importance in T20 cricket. The form of the Top 3 batters plays a vital role in the success of any team. Former Indian cricketer Nikhil Chopra recently picked his choices to bat in the Top 3 for India in Asia Cup and ICC T20 World Cup 2022.
During an interaction with CricTracker on the ‘Not Just Cricket Show’, Chopra said that captain Rohit Sharma and vice-captain KL Rahul should be the prime picks for the opening slots. His two backup options for the opening positions were Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw. He left out Gujarat Titans star Shubman Gill.
“I think KL Rahul will definitely be there at the opening slot, and I expect Rohit to come well. I will not pick Shubman Gill, as I already have Rahul. My backup option would be Prithvi Shaw or Shikhar Dhawan.”
Nikhil Chopra expects Virat Kohli to bat at number 3 for India in Asia Cup and T20 World Cup
On the same show, Nikhil opined that Virat Kohli would likely return from a break for these two mega events, so he should be rejuvenated. Here’s what he added:
“The no. three will be Virat Kohli. I think he can take a rest in June to rejuvenate himself because Asia Cup is too close to the T20 World Cup.”
