Australian national cricket team led by Steve Smith finally breathed a sigh of relief after defying the odds and coming through with flying colours in the third Test match against Team India at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore.
Team India literally struggled to produce a spark in both innings and which is the reason why they failed to pose a threat to the Aussies. On the other hand, the visitors were tactically and clinically good across all aspects of the game.
Earlier, Pat Cummins flew to Australia to attend to a family illness and since he didn’t return, Steve Smith led the team from the front. Cameron Green and Mitchell Starc returned back into the mix.
The return of Cameron Green pushed Travis Head to bat high up the order and it did work for them. Travis Head anchored the innings in the run-chase when Australia required 76 runs to win the game.
Head top-scored with an unbeaten 49 runs including six fours and a six whereas Marnus Labuschagne remained unbeaten on 28 runs including six fours as Australia beat India by nine wickets in the Indore Test.
Steve Smith is the only captain to defeat India twice at home in Tests in the last decade
India suffered an embarrassing defeat at the hands of the Aussies in the third Test, which is also only their third defeat at home in the last 10 years. Meanwhile, Steve Smith can take pride in the fact that he is the only captain to defeat Team India twice at home in Tests in the last decade.
During Australia’s tour of India back in 2017, Australia locked horns with India in the first Test at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune. Steve Smith was the captain at that time and he guided his team to a whopping 333-run win.
In the recently concluded third Test between India and Australia, Steve Smith guided the Aussies to another win. The fourth and final Test will kick off on March 9 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
I think the pitch defeated us both time more than Steve Smith

He was excellent with his bowling and fielding changes. And he also brought back the aggression which was lacking in the Aussie team
