The mega auction for the Indian Premier League 2022 is set to take place on 12 and 13 February in Bangalore. It is the key talking point in the cricket world at the moment, and rightly so. The buzz around it is visible on social media.
590 cricketers will be under the hammer this week, with all the ten franchises eyeing a few of them. The performance of franchises on the auction table will pretty much decide their chances of succeeding. The fans and the cricketers themselves will be following all the actions closely.
Kevin Pietersen names an English player and two Indians to earn big contracts:
Former England player Kevin Pietersen, who had also played IPL, said that the mega auction will be an incredible opportunity for players. He termed the auction as “life-changing”.
Pietersen said, “It’s a massively exciting time for everybody involved in the IPL, with the mega auction an incredible opportunity for so many lives to be changed”.
“The money is in the game and so it should belong to the players, not the executives. I have no issue with the type of cash that will be heading for several players’ pockets this weekend. They’re talented enough, they’re working hard enough and they deserve it,” he added.
Kevin Pietersen names two southpaws Shikhar Dhawan and Ishan Kishan. According to Pietersen, these two are the premium batsmen and the teams might spend huge on them.
He said, “Shikhar Dhawan and Ishan Kishan are two premium domestic batters on the market, and I’ll also be keeping an eye on Pat Cummins, Quinton de Kock and Trent Boult.”
Further, he said that England’s speedster Mark Wood might be the one earning big. He wants Wood to be rewarded for all the hard work he has put in his game over the years.
“It would be great to see Mark Wood rewarded for years of hard work and perseverance with a big contract, too,” the 41-year-old said.
The mega auction will be conducted in two days. The teams will be looking to invest in the players who can serve them consistently for a long time. With a vast pool of players, there will be plenty of options to choose from.
