While the Indian cricketers are busy involved in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League, Australia’s best batsman, Steven Smith seems to be spending top-quality time in getting accustomed to red-ball cricket.
The experienced cricketer currently represents the Sussex cricket team in the County Championship. Steve Smith is absolutely making sure that he will unleash the best version of himself in the WTC Final against Team India.
The second cycle of the ICC World Test Championship Final between Team India and Australia will kick off on June 7 at The Kennington Oval in London. While it is Australia’s first-ever WTC Final, it is India’s second appearance in the WTC Final.
For the record, Team India made it all the way to the finals under the captaincy of Virat Kohli in the first edition. Unfortunately, they surrendered at the hands of the New Zealand cricket team in the final showdown.
Steven Smith returns to good form ahead of the WTC Final
Meanwhile, Steve Smith scored a stellar 89 for the Sussex cricket team in the ongoing County Championship. This is indeed a very ideal preparation for him going forward into the WTC Final which is less than 3 weeks away from getting underway.
On the other hand, the Indian players who are part of the WTC Final squad are currently involved in the IPL except for KL Rahul who was ruled out of the IPL 2023 and the WTC Final. Cheteshwar Pujara who is not part of the IPL is busy playing in the County Championship.
Meanwhile, Sussex are playing against Glamorgan at County Ground, Hove. Glamorgan were bowled out for a mere 123 in the first innings. In response, Sussex posted 317/5 in 89 overs.
Steve Smith scored 89 runs with the help of 10 fours and a six to his name. James Coles, the lower-order batsman for Sussex scored a brilliant century. Meanwhile, Steve Smith will be hoping to continue his good form in the WTC final against Team India.

Yeah. While our star players hitting 100s on flat pitches. Mark my words, out batting is heading for an epic fail in WTC finals. Whole Australian lineup behind the wicket is in for a Catch fest.
