‘The team recognised the importance of having a left-handed batter’-Parthiv Patel feels that Rishabh Pant is a must in the middle order

According to Parthiv Patel, Rishabh Pant should be included in India’s playing XI for the shortest format of the game. The former cricket player said that he was surprised that Pant was not included in the team’s starting lineup for the first match of the Asia Cup 2022, which was played against Pakistan.

The former cricket player turned broadcaster said that it was unnecessary to choose between Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant as the best batsman in the team. He thought that both of India’s wicketkeeper-batter may break into the starting eleven.

In the Twenty20 Internationals, Patel urged that the senior batter, Virat Kohli, should open alongside Rohit Sharma and that Rishabh Pant should play in the middle of the order.

What did Parthiv Patel say about Rishabh Pant?

While he was being interviewed on Cricbuzz, he said: “I was taken aback when I heard that Rishabh Pant would not be included in the starting XI. The question of whether Rishabh Pant or Dinesh Karthik should take the field is being discussed by everyone. However, it is not an accurate comparison. In my opinion, KL Rahul should be replaced by Virat Kohli at the top of the order, while Rishabh Pant should bat in the middle of the order. Ravindra Jadeja was moved up to the middle order because the team recognized the importance of having a left-handed batter on the roster. Therefore, you need that mix of left and right in the middle.”

Pant’s absence from the playing XI caused a lot of people to raise their eyebrows. It is still unknown whether or not Rohit Sharma and company will make any substitutions to their lineup for the next encounter against Hong Kong.

On Wednesday, the fourth match of the Asia Cup 2022 will take place at the Dubai International Stadium and will feature India playing against Hong Kong (August 31).
