“He Will Continue To Play Next Season” : Sunil Gavaskar Addresses The Rumours Of MS Dhoni’s Retirement From IPL

The Great Indian Opener Sunil Gavaskar has plunged into the rumours of CSK skipper MS Dhoni’s retirement from the Indian Premier League. Dhoni has given the early signs of his retirement in his couple of previous interviews, but he may continue to play furthermore according to Gavaskar. He has been among the guys who continue to stick to their first franchise of the tournament. Since the year 2008, he has successfully led the team of Chennai Super Kings into the victories of IPL (2010, 2011, 2018, 2021).

MSD is also the player who has appeared in the most number of IPL matches in his long career. Till this point in time, he has played 233 IPL matches and scored 4952 runs with a fantastic average of 39.32. Early in this season, CSK team management has proclaimed Ravindra Jadeja as their new skipper and MSD will play as wiki-batter in the team.

“Yes, he will continue to play next season”.

But, as the games passed out, Jadeja’s clueless captaincy had started to derail the momentum of defending champions, they have redesignated the leadership to Dhoni. The ray of hope for play-offs has almost ended for Chennai Super Kings this season as they lost 9 games and currently standing in the ninth position in the points table.

This is the thing which Sunil Gavaskar has pointed out in his address to the questions asked to him on ‘Star Sports’. He has previously also calibrated the career width of MS Dhoni but this time he directly tapped the issue by saying, “Look at the way MS Dhoni has played in 2022. He is very keen, still enthusiastic about the game. Which means ‘Definitely Not’. Yes, he will continue to play next season”.
