“From other sports I admire….”, Suryakumar Yadav picks his icons from sports other than cricket

In a recent interview with the ESPNCricinfo website, Suryakumar Yadav was asked about the icons that he idolizes from other sports. In response to that, the batsman replied that he really admires football star Cristiano Ronaldo and tennis star Roger Federer. Former Indian captain Virat Kohli has always said that he looks up to Cristiano Ronaldo for motivation, as his work ethic always impresses him. Now, Suryakumar Yadav has also officially enlisted himself in the long list of Cristiano Ronaldo fans.

While Roger Federer is considered the GOAT of tennis by almost everyone, the Messi vs. Ronaldo debate is never ending. A noticeable trend in the Lionel Messi vs. Cristiano Ronaldo debate has been that the athletic people who are more concerned with fitness (like Virat Kohli) always tend to prefer Cristiano Ronaldo, as he is arguably the best athlete in the world.

Suryakumar Yadav is undoubtedly one of the most important Indian players right now as far as white-ball cricket is concerned. His consistent performances in the last few tournaments that he has featured in (including the T20 World Cup 2022) have been commendable. He was India’s best batsman after Virat Kohli in the World Cup, and even after that, he continued his form in the three-match T20I series against New Zealand. He scored a century in the second match but was bowled out for a duck in the third.

Indian fans will hope that Sky keeps on performing in similar fashion for the rest of the year as the 2023 ODI World Cup is set to kick off soon. Indian fans would want Suryakumar Yadav to be in his best form during that tournament.

After the ODI series against New Zealand and the Bangladesh tour, the middle-order batsman will concentrate on the Indian Premier League 2023 wherein he represents the franchise Mumbai Indians.
