India is currently locking horns with Bangladesh in the first Test in Chattogram. The hosts won the toss and decided to bat first. But it hasn’t been a fruitful outing for the so far as they have struggled against the bowling attack.
They had a decent start as they scored 41 runs for the opening partnership but a poor shot selection from Shubman Gill saw him back in the hut for 20 runs. It wasn’t much far away when stand-in skipper KL Rahul chopped on a short of a length delivery outside off stump from Khaled Ahmed on 22.
With Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara at the crease, many expected them to stitch the crucial partnership and bail India out of trouble. But it wasn’t the case as things got worse for them as it saw Kohli also taking a long walk to the pavilion for just 1 run.
Taijul Islam bowled a short delivery to which Kohli went on the back foot to play leg-side, the ball spun sharply from the middle of the pitch and struck him on the back pad and the umpire didn’t take much longer to raise his finger. The former Indian skipper took a review but that too didn’t go his way as back into the hut for just 1 run. Early wickets saw India tottering at 48/3.
