“Rahane back to form after getting selected for the WTC final”, Twitter reacts as Lalit Yadav sent back Ajinkya Rahane for 21 runs off 20 balls

On May 10, 2023, at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, the four-time champion Chennai Super Kings faced off against the David Warner-led Delhi Capitals in game 55 of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Chennai chose to bat first after winning the toss, hoping to rack up a large score. However, Delhi’s bowling attack performed well to restrict the four-time champions in the first few overs. Ajinkya Rahane, a seasoned Indian batsman, stepped in to bat after the loss of the first wicket.

The 34-year-old’s incredible run of form at the IPL 2023 has seen him hit 255 runs in nine games. Rahane hoped to accumulate some crucial runs for Chennai, but he was out for only 21 off 20 balls as he attempted to play Lalit Yadav’s delivery straight towards non-sticker Shivam Dube on the first ball of the 12th over. Lalit, though, dove to make a spectacular one-handed catch that even the umpire couldn’t believe.

The Delhi Capitals, captained by David Warner, will be trying for their fifth victory of the IPL 2023 in this match. The team has managed just eight points from ten games so far, putting them in last place in the IPL standings. They’ve won two in a row, over the Gujarat Titans and the Royal Challengers Bangalore, and now they’re ready to take on Chennai.

On the other side, the Chennai Super Kings have 13 points after 11 games and are in second place. The Delhi Capitals may have a major victory if they are able to overcome the difficulty of playing in Chepauk. David Warner, though, would want to build on the team’s recent success and make a compelling argument for postseason participation.
