“Aussies won’t rant about the pitch now” – Twitter erupts as India registered their 4th lowest total at home in the last 15 years

Rohit Sharma and Co tasted fruitful wins in the first two games of the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy series. Team India dictated terms in both games and rightly so, they won both games in a grand fashion.

The Indian skipper meticulously set field placements and rotated bowlers at the right time and the results were there for everyone to see in the first two matches of the BGT series.

More importantly, India have also retained the Border Gavaskar Trophy for the record fourth-straight time, which is quite a remarkable achievement. However, things literally turned upside down after India ran through a batting collapse in the Indore Test match.

India register their fourth-lowest total at home in the last 15 years

Indian battered remained clueless in their approach while playing against the Australian spinners in the third Test match at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore. India won the toss and opted to bat first.

Mitchell Starc who had to sit out for the first two Tests owing to a finger injury he sustained in the third Test against South Africa was finally back in the mix for the third Test.

Nonetheless, he remained wicketless and so was Cameron Green. However, the Australian spinners changed the entire complexion of the game by taking all the wickets.

Matthew Kuhnemann was the star performer for the visitors. He bagged an impressive five-wicket haul by dismissing Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Ravichandran Ashwin and Umesh Yadav. Nathan Lyon settled for three wickets to his name and Todd Murphy took a wicket to his name.

Team India were skittled out for a paltry 109 in the first innings, which is also their fourth-lowest total at home in the last 15 years. Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill scored 22 and 21 runs respectively, in what was a disappointing performance from the Indian batters at home in the first innings.
