Indian batter Shreyas Iyer shared a video of himself batting in the indoor nets after he failed to make cut into the 15-member squad that will travel to Australia for the T20 World Cup 2022.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday (13th September) announced the squad for the T20 World Cup 2022. The squad saw almost every expected player in it apart from a few seasoned names.
One among them was Shreyas Iyer. The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper despite being India’s second-highest run-scorer in T20Is this year. He also was not part of the Asia Cup squad as his ability to tackle short balls has pushed him down the pecking order.
With the pace and bouncy wickets in Australia, It was quite understandable that the likes of Suryakumar Yadav and Dinesh Karthik would have been preferred ahead of him.
A day after he was dropped from the squad for the World Cup, he shared a video in which he can be seen batting in the nets. Iyer seemed to be in good touch as he displayed a sensational display of stroke play with a wide array of shots including dispatching short balls for six

Not only from the World Cup squad, but Iyer also failed to make the cut into the squad for the Australia as well as the South Africa T20Is, which will be played from 20th September to 28th September.
However, he managed to find a place in the reserves for the World Cup along with Deepak Chahar, Mohammed Shami, and Ravi Bishnoi. Iyer has scored 449 runs in T20Is this year. Overall in 42 T20Is, he has scored 1029 runs at an average of 33.19 and a strike rate of 136.65 to go with 7 half-centuries.

Iyer was last seen in action during the T20I series against West Indies. He now needs to pull a superlative effort to claim his spot back in the Indian T20I side.
