3 international team captains who have signed up for UAE T20 League

All franchises have made non-local picks for the first edition of the UAE T20 League or International League T20. Since the CSA T20 League is likely to happen around the same time, there was a race for the two competitions to get top overseas players onboard. Both tournaments will actually have some elite superstars play the game. For the UAE T20 League, some current international team captains have signed up. This is a big boost for the league to have such cricketers. On that note, here, we look at three international team captains who have signed up for UAE T20 League.

1) Nicholas Pooran (West Indies) – MI Emirates

West Indian skipper Nicholas Pooran will turn up for the MI Emirates in the UAE T20 league. He was one of the top picks made by the franchise along with the likes of Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo.

A few months ago, Kieron Pollard retired from international cricket. Nicholas Pooran was his natural successor and hence, took up the role. Although Pooran has struggled to get the desired results, considering he is still young, the management might back him. The southpaw is likely to be Pollard’s deputy at the MI Emirates.

2) Mohammad Nabi (Afghanistan) – Sharjah Warriors

Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi is one of the international team captains who have signed up for the UAE T20 League. Afghanistan has had some leadership issues but right now, this aspect is steady, thanks to the influence of Mohammad Nabi.

The all-rounder has joined Sharjah Warriors for the first edition of the league. With Moeen Ali also in the side, Nabi might not get the captaincy duties. That said, if Moeen plays the CSA T20 League instead of the tournament in UAE, Nabi will be the obvious captaincy choice.

3) Dasun Shanaka (Sri Lanka) – Dubai Capitals

Sri Lanka has had a rough road when it comes to the captaincy department. However, after the appointment of Dasun Shanaka, things have settled down. In fact, the team is doing well at the moment.

Dubai Capitals have very few options for captaincy. Hence, it is likely that the Sri Lankan skipper will get a chance to prove his mettle as a skipper on the big stage.
