In a statement today, on the Indian Premier League’s official website, the list of all replacement signings for the UAE-leg of IPL 2021 has been announced. The second phase of the competition will begin on September 19th. Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians will clash in the first game of the second phase of IPL 2021.
RCB sign four replacement players for IPL 2021
Royal Challengers Bangalore has been one of the busy teams off the park ahead of the UAE-leg of IPL 2021. As many as four overseas players in the team have had to pull out due to various reasons. Hence, RCB was forced to revamp half of its overseas set up ahead of the competition.
Wanindu Hasaranga, Dushmantha Chameera, George Garton and Tim David will replace Adam Zampa, Daniel Sams, Kane Richardson and Finn Allen respectively in the RCB camp. Although it will change a few things in the team atmosphere, a few fans have felt that the new signings have been on point.
RR, KKR and PBKS also announce Replacements
Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings have also announced their replacement signings for the UAE-leg of IPL 2021. RR were dealt a blow with the unavailability of Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer a few weeks ago. Adding to that, Jos Buttler will also be missing the tournament for the Royals. While Kiwi player Glenn Phillips will replace Buttler, ICC’s No.1 T20I bowler Tabraiz Shamsi will replace Andrew Tye.
After revealing that Aussie pacer Nathan Ellis would replace Riley Meredith a few days ago, Punjab Kings have announced another replacement signing. English spinner Adil Rashid will replace Jhye Richardson in the franchise.
KKR, too, have made their move ahead of the UAE leg. Pat Cummins had said that he would not be part of the tournament a few months ago. Hence, Tim Southee will replace the Aussie in the Brendon McCullum-coached unit.
