Watch: Umran Malik sends Derbyshire batsman’s middle stump cart-wheeling with a rapid delivery

Umran Malik is one of the fastest bowlers in the world at the moment

Umran Malik might not have played a lot of games for India, but he has become a household name already because of his unique ability to crank up speeds in the range of 150 kph on a consistent basis.

While the young sensation has shown his ability to everyone in the IPL and has rushed some of world’s best batsmen, he has not got the opportunity to play a lot of games for India yet because of the lack of vacancies in India’s bowling attack in white-ball cricket at the moment.

But, yesterday Umran Malik was in action in India’s practice game against Derbyshire ahead of the T20I series against England and he bowled with the same intensity that he generally bowls with. Umran dismissed two of Derbyshire’s top players and the mode of dismissal was clean bowled on both occasions.

The video of Umran Malik cleaning up Brook Guest is going particularly viral because it was such a quick delivery that the middle stump went cart-wheeling behind, as the ball hit the stumps. The delivery was in the slot and was there to be hit, but it was just the speed of the delivery which beat Brook Guest.

Umran Malik is a part of the Indian squad for T20I series against England

Umran Malik has been kept in the frame in the Indian T20I set-up, as he has been named in the Indian squad for the T20I series against England, although he is not expected to start.

The Indian team management is well aware of Umran’s wicket taking ability because of his pace, but they want him to develop into a bowler who can not just bowl quick, but bowl quick with control as well.

Umran might make himself a contender for the T20 World Cup squad, if he delivers in whatever limited opportunities he gets on England tour and then probably in West Indies.
