Delhi Capitals have made a few key announcements ahead of the IPL 2023. The franchise has named David Warner as the captain for this year along with Axar Patel, who will serve as deputy to the Australian opener. Apart from this they also named Sourav Ganguly as the Director of the Cricket
The team was forced to name a new skipper after regular captain Rishabh Pant injured himself in a road accident a few months ago. The keeper batter suffered two lacerative wounds on his forehead along with a ligament tear in the knee and has also hurt his right wrist, ankle, and toe and has suffered abrasions on his back. He is likely to take at least 6 months or more to recover and it’s now confirmed that he will miss the IPL 2023.
Warner, on the other hand, has a fair amount of captaincy experience as he led Sunrisers Hyderabad for a long time and led them to the title win in 2016. In the 62 matches that he captained the team, he won 35 out of them at a win percentage of 52.17. Whereas Patel can prove to be a good supporting role for him as he has a fair amount of experience.
