“He Has Banged The Selection Committee’s Door Down”- Sunil Gavaskar Wants To See Sarfaraz Khan In Indian Test Squad

Sarfaraz Khan has dominated the bowlers in domestic cricket over the last few seasons. He played an integral role in Mumbai’s journey to the Ranji Trophy Final this season by scoring over 900 runs in just six matches. Scoring centuries became a habit for Khan as the bowlers seemingly had no clue of how to dismiss him cheaply.

Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has opined that Khan should be a part of the Indian Test squad soon. In his view, Khan has banged the door of the Indian selection committee down and deserves a place in the national squad.

“Sarfaraz Khan’s tremendous run of hundreds should bring him into contention for a place in the national team He certainly has banged the selection committee’s door down and it would be a real surprise if his name doesn’t figure in the squad for the next Test series,” Gavaskar wrote in his column for Mid-Day.

Sarfaraz Khan has done well in the IPL in the past

Sarfaraz Khan was a well-known name in the Indian cricketing circles even before his consistent showing in the Ranji Trophy. The right-handed batter was a part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore team back in 2015, where he had an impressive season for the Bold Army.

The Bangalore-based franchise retained him along with Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers for the 2018 edition of the Indian Premier League, but Khan could not continue his fine form. He was soon released by the Royal Challengers.

Earlier this year, Khan played for the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2022. He did not have a great season, but DC may retain him for the next season because of his excellent form. It will be exciting to see if Sarfaraz receives a call-up to the Indian squad in the near future. He could be a solid middle-order batting option for the Indian team.
