Shikhar Dhawan is named as the 8th Indian skipper in the year 2022, he has been appointed for the task of an ODI series against the West Indies, and Ravindra Jadeja has been appointed as his deputy. The skilled southpaw has been struggling for many days to get a permanent position in the Indian team, and finally, he got the biggest opportunity to lead the team in an ODI series against the Windies.

   Due to his majestic IPL form, the move has been played by BCCI, but in the upcoming ODI series against England, his position come under many questions as the youngsters like Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ishan Kishan, and also the deputy skipper of limited-overs cricket, KL Rahul has been standing against him for the opening slot. Dhawan has been counted as the 8th captain of the Indian team in the year 2020. 

     Before him from the start KL Rahul led the team in the one-day series against South Africa then Rohit Sharma has come into the picture for Sri Lanka and West Indies series after that Rishabh pant played a helm role for the young Indian team in the T20 series against the proteas. Then Hardik Pandya was made the Skipper against the Ireland T20 series in between Dinesh Karthik also led the team in a practice match against England. 

 Finally, Jasprit Bumrah captained the team as the 7th leader just before Shikhar’s name was announced for the West Indies series. Many experts have been releasing questions about the rest of the key players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma and the template of a permanent Skipper is also going out of the box from the minds of people combating the think tank of Indian cricket.
