As a result, they made the right call to secure the future of Test cricket. While we have seen the ODI and T20I format being played in the ICC tournaments, Test cricket finally got its own premier championship as well.

The first cycle of the ICC World Test Championship kick-started on August 1, 2019. The inaugural edition saw New Zealand and India making it to the finals of the competition. New Zealand beat India in the WTC Final to win the championship.

2. Jos Buttler

Jos Buttler who has been one of the best-attacking batters for England in white-ball cricket struggled to produce a spark in the ICC World Test Championship. The right-handed batsman has the second-lowest batting average of 27.85 (minimum 1000 runs) in the WTC.

3. Cheteshwar Pujara

Cheteshwar Pujara is one of the batters on this list who didn’t up his ante in the ICC World Test Championship. India’s Test specialist has the third-lowest batting average of 29.58 in the WTC.

4. Zak Crawley

Zak Crawley is the third England batsman on this list who didn’t enjoy batting in the ICC World Test Championship. The England Test opener has an average of 30.90 in the premier championship.
