3 Players Born Outside Australia Who Will Play Against India In Border-Gavaskar 2023 Test Series

Cricket Australia (CA) announced a star-studded squad for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar 2023 Test series against the Indian cricket team. The Australian team has dominated Test cricket of late, and they hold the number one position in the ICC World Test Championship points table. At the moment, it looks like Australia and India will play in the WTC 2023 Final.

However, the upcoming series will play a major role in deciding the two finalists. If India or Australia record a one-sided series win, then one of them may not make it to the summit clash. In case the Border-Gavaskar 2023 Test series is a close one, then both India and Australia will qualify.

Talking about the Australian squad that has been named for this series, fast bowler Pat Cummins will lead the side. The likes of David Warner, Steve Smith and Mitchell Starc feature in the team as well. Here is their complete squad:

Pat Cummins (C), Ashton Agar, Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Peter Handscomb, Travis Head, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Lance Morris, Todd Murphy, Matthew Renshaw, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Swepson, David Warner.

Fans would be surprised to know that there are three such players in the squad who were born outside Australia. Here are the three names:

1. South Africa-born Marnus Labuschagne will play in Border-Gavaskar 2023 Test series

Marnus Labuschagne is among the top batters in Test cricket right now. Not many fans would have an idea that the Australian team player was born in South Africa. He will play his first Test in India soon.

2. Pakistan-born Usman Khawaja will play in Border-Gavaskar 2023 Test series

Another Australian batter to feature on this list is the team’s in-form star, Usman Khawaja. A lot of members of the cricket universe would know that Khawaja was born in Pakistan, but he plays for Australia.

3. Matt Renshaw

Matt Renshaw has earned a recall to the Australian Test squad. Interestingly, the top-order batter was born in Yorkshire, England, but he plays for Australia.
