3 franchises that will be happy with the fixtures for IPL 2022

The format for IPL 2022 was announced on Friday. As per the new format, ten teams have been divided into two virtual groups based on the number of titles won and final games played. Each team will play the other teams in the group twice and all the other franchises in the other group once. There will be one additional game against the franchise in the same row in the opposite group. This way, the league phase will come to a conclusion. In this article, we take a look at three teams that will be happy with the fixtures for IPL 2022.

1) Punjab Kings

As per the opinion of many experts, Punjab Kings possess the strongest team for IPL 2022. They belong to group B which also contains CSK, RCB, GT and SRH. PBKS will clash with Delhi Capitals from the other group twice. Overall, PBKS might be happy with the fixtures. This is mainly because they will get to face SRH and GT twice. Both these teams have not been rated very highly by the experts so far. The game against Delhi will be tricky but Punjab has good pace hitters which will come good against the likes of Anrich Nortje and Shardul Thakur.

2) Chennai Super Kings

CSK is also one of the teams that will be happy with the fixtures for IPL 2022. Like Punjab, CSK is also placed in Group B. While they might consider PBKS a tough opposition, the rest of the teams are beatable for CSK. Yes, they will face Mumbai Indians twice but the teams have changed now. CSK’s batting line-up is brim with players who can take on any kind of bowling. Barring Jasprit Bumrah and to an extent Tymal Mills, the Mumbai Indians bowling attack is not exactly strong. Therefore, CSK might be happy with the recent announcement.

3) Royal Challengers Bangalore

RCB is also placed in Group B for IPL 2022. All the other teams in the group appear to be on a level playing field except Punjab Kings, who appear strong. Nevertheless, a strategy could be found to defeat them. Rajasthan Royals are the opposition from the other group whom RCB will face twice. The RR spin attack could trouble RCB but if they can pick the battles and plan accordingly, the franchise could find a way. They have avoided the likes of DC and LSG, who could have troubled them more than GT or SRH.
