2 Indians who got out for three consecutive ducks in ODI Cricket history

Getting off the mark is the primary goal of every batter because you don’t want to embarrass yourself by getting dismissed for a duck by making a costly mistake. In fact, when a new batsman comes out to bat, there will be unreal pressure on him in the first place.

The bowler might as well pull a barrage of tricks off his sleeve to trouble the batter. As a result, the batsman needs to be watchful before dominating the proceedings. We have seen Indian batters getting dismissed for a duck in the sport and it might happen when they tend to play across the line or commit an error.

However, a batsman getting dismissed for three consecutive ducks is seen as a rare occurrence. So far, two Indians got the unwanted record of three consecutive ducks in the history of ODIs. Now, let’s take a look at two Indians who got out for three consecutive ducks in ODI cricket history.

1. Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Tendulkar is the leading run-scorer in the history of ODIs and Tests. The Little Master didn’t kick-start his ODI career properly as he took nearly five years and 78 ODIs to score his first ODI century.

He achieved the feat against Australia in 1994 but little did Sachin Tendulkar know that he would go on to score three consecutive ducks in his next three ODIs. He got out for three consecutive ducks against Sri Lanka and West Indies in 1994.

2. Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav is the second Indian to register three consecutive ducks in One-Day Internationals. He created this unwanted record against Australia in the home ODI series.

The right-handed batter was dismissed for a golden duck in the first, second and third ODI against Australia. Thus, he became the first Indian to get dismissed for three consecutive golden ducks in the 50-over format.
