It was an iconic affair at the Chepauk as two teams battled it out at their supreme, thanks to some stinging pyrotechnics from one of the most adored duos in the antiquity of the IPL and that was of MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja.

Chennai Super Kings won the toss and opted to field first and what a cracker of a start it was for CSK. Tushar Deshpande was the first one to strike as Yashasvi Jaiswal could only sneak in 10 runs. However, Devdutt Padikkal and Jos Buttler were quick to ride on the bandwagon. The duo stitched a staggering 77 runs for the second wicket.

However, following the fall of these two wickets, things got pretty haywire as there was a sudden slump in the center but then the partnership of Ravichandran Ashwin and Shimron Hetmyer titled the game in Rajasthan Royals’ favour. Thanks to a collective display of might as the Rajasthan Royals managed to pile up 175 for the loss of 8. Akash Singh, Tushar Deshpande and Ravindra Jadeja shared 6 wickets between them.

Chennai Super Kings came out to bat and were in early trouble as Ruturaj Gaikwad was removed early by Sandeep Sharma. However, replicating the heroics of the first innings, it was a clinical display from Devon Conway and Ajinkya Rahane for the second wicket, as the duo posted 68 runs for the second wicket. Three quick wickets and the game changed in favour of Rajasthan Royals. However, as they say that the game isn’t finished until the Finisher is hanging in there.

As expected, MS Dhoni took the game head on alongside Ravindra Jadeja and started banging those biggies. Just when the game started slipping out of the hands from the Rajasthan Royals, that is when Sandeep Sharma was handed over that final over. Things looked extremely topsy turvy for the Royals as Sandeep conceded 2 sixes in that final over but he turned things around with 3 back to back yorkers in the last three ball of the innings as CSK was handed their second defeat of the tournament.
