3 players who are making a comeback with the Zimbabwe ODI series

BCCI announced the Indian squad for the three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe. As a part of the assignment, India will take on Zimbabwe in three ODI encounters in Harare, starting from August 18th. A few cricketers will be marking their comeback with this tournament. It is important for them to do well so that they remain in the scheme of things going forward. On that note, here are the three players who are making a comeback with the Zimbabwe ODI series. Before that, let’s take a look at the squad that has been selected for the series.

India’s squad for the ODI series against Zimbabwe: Shikhar Dhawan (C), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shubman Gill, Deepak Hooda, Rahul Tripathi, Ishan Kishan (WK), Sanju Samson (WK), Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Avesh Khan, Prasidh Krishna, M Siraj, and Deepak Chahar.

1) Deepak Chahar

It has been a long break for Deepak Chahar from cricket. Before IPL 2022, he suffered an injury and was ruled out for a couple of weeks. However, during his rehab, he encountered another injury. This took him a long time to recover.

Now, the Rajasthan cricketer has made a comeback to the ODI squad for the Zimbabwe tour. Considering the seniors are rested, Deepak could straightaway get his chance to feature in the playing XI.

2) Washington Sundar

Tamil Nadu’s Washington Sundar is also one of the players who are making a comeback with the Zimbabwe ODI series. Although he has had his issues with COVID and injuries, for recent tournaments, Sundar was ignored despite being available.

However, after doing well in the ongoing County, the all-rounder has earned his comeback to the squad. With Axar Patel in the side, Sundar could find it hard to get an opportunity. Nevertheless, the youngster must grab whatever chances he gets from now on to remain in the setup.

3) Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav is part of the Indian Team in the ongoing T20I series against the West Indies. However, in the ODI format, it is also a return for the Uttar Pradesh spinner.

He last played an ODI in February this year. Before that game, his previous ODI appearance was in July 2021. Hence, Kuldeep has been away from the format for quite a while. He would want to do well in order to be in the plans with respect to the 2023 ODI World Cup.
